“Joe Pera Talks With You” is over…for now

Joe Pera took to social media on July 7th to announce the unfortunate news that his Adult Swim show Joe Pera Talks With You has not been renewed for a fourth season.

Elaborating in a post on his website, Pera talked through his own reaction to hearing the news, and his appreciation for the show and the people who he worked alongside.

“The more I learn how TV works, the more I realize that it’s kind of a miracle that our quiet, 11-minute show about rocks, beans, grocery stores, and breakfast crews got on the air and lasted as long as it did.”

Despite the show’s cancellation, Pera expressed hope that the character’s stories would continue, in some form or another, into the future.

“I knew where things were headed but I won’t say here cause part of me is holding out hope that sometime down the line we can film a proper ending for Joe, Sarah, the Melskys, Gene, Lulu, and most importantly, Fred the Sample Guy.”

The news was met with strong reactions online, with floods of comments on his announcement posts. On the day of the announcement, Joe Pera trended on Twitter.

The show has been hailed as a representation of more niche comedy on television, and has built up a bit of a cult following.

In his post on his website, Pera alluded to some upcoming plans, including a movie and filming his first special. It seems like Pera might be continuing a recent trend of comedians self-releasing specials, but that isn’t finalized.

If you are immediately looking for more Joe Pera for yourself, he is touring nationally throughout the year.
