When it comes to television personalities, Johnny Carson is one of the most recognizable of all time. He was certainly the one who defined what we now know as late night. And there’s a new series in the works all about Carson.
The new series will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and will be directed by Jay Roach. The series – titled King of Late Night – will be written by David Milch and “reveal how Johnny’s diehard connection to his audience overlapped with his lifelong desire for a basic quality of life, and how his beloved on-screen persona came into conflict with the more colorful aspects of his personal life.”
Gordon-Levitt, Milch and Roach will also executive produce with Paul Lee, Paul Greene, and David Flynn. The project is currently out being shopped around.
