Julio Torres will create and star in a new series, “Little Films,” for HBO

Julio Torres – creator and star of HBO’s Los Espookys, which was not picked up for a third season – has a new project in the works.

Torres will create, write, direct, produce, and star in a new comedy series for HBO, titled Little Films. This is part of his first look deal with HBO. Dave McCary and Emma Stone are on board as executive producers of the series.

Little Films “tells the tale of when he lost a little golden oyster. The people he encounters as he searches for it, and the musings he has along the way, become points of departure for introspective, often eerie comedic stories about outsiders navigating an increasingly corporate and rapidly dysfunctional New York City.”

“We here at Julio are so excited to be joined by many friends in weaving these fantastical stories shot entirely on stages,” said Torres.

Pre-production is underway currently, and is eyeing towards starting production in February 2023.
