Kevin Smith releases trailer for comedy-horror film “Kilroy Was Here”

July 27, 2020      Andrew Buss      Kevin Smith, Movies, News

Over the weekend, Kevin Smith hosted his infamous Hall H panel virtually, an obvious first in the history of his annual free-wheeling Q and A’s. Typically at the event, he’ll offer up an exclusive. This will either be an exclusive trailer or clip from the project that he’s working on. This year was no different. And while he didn’t premiere a clip from his upcoming Masters of the Universe series, he did bring us a trailer for a comedy/horror anthology titled Kilroy Was Here.

The film is described by Smith as a story “involving our monster Killroy and all these little stories that happen around him.” Initially, he set out to make a movie about Krampus, but wound up switching gears. The film co-stars Azita Ghanizada, Chris Jericho, Harley Quinn Smith, Ralph Garman, Ryan O’Nan, Jason Mewes, and Justin Kucsulain as Kilroy. The make-up was designed by Robert Kurtzman, who previously worked with Smith on Tusk, Yoga Hosers, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

Smith directed the movie based on the screenplay he wrote with Andy McElfresh. The film is also notable as he worked entirely with students from the Ringling College of Art and Design in a Sarasota, Florida. Judging from the trailer, while we can’t tell whether or not the film will be good, we can say it’ll definitely be quintessential “out there” for Kevin Smith.
