The duo behind Comedy Central’s hit show Key & Peele, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have set their first joint feature film over at New Line. According to Deadline, the project will start production next spring.
The duo have been attached to multiple film projects over the past year, including a Police Academy reboot, a Judd Apatow flick, and a Key & Peele spinoff featuring beloved substitute teacher, Mr.Garvey. Their first film however will be titled Keanu, and tells the story of friends who pose as drug dealers to infiltrate the criminal underworld to retrieve a stolen cat named, Keanu. The film was written by Peele and Alex Rubens who write for Key & Peele and Community.
It’s certainly an interesting choice for a debut film. Either way, it looks like we’ll be seeing Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele on the big screen a lot for the next few years (at least).
