Key & Peele will come to an end after this season on Comedy Central
July 27, 2015 Mark Says Hi! News, Television
Keegan-Michael Key, one half of the smash hit Comedy Central sketch show Key & Peele has been quoted as saying, “It was time for us to explore other things, together and apart.” This comes as shocking news. But I guess if you are going to go out, why not go out on top. Key continued on by stating, “The current season will be the series’ last.” The fifth, and now what will be the last, season of the show is already underway and will come to a close in September. The entire final season has already been filmed. The history of the two working together dates back to Mad TV when they spent 6 season working on the show before the launch of the Comedy Central powerhouse series. The show has been nominated for an Emmy 13 times over and has won a Peabody Award. Not a bad run. As for the future of Key and Peele as individuals, you can look to the big screen. Michael Key can be seen in the upcoming reboot of Vacation, the animated features Hotel Transylvania 2 and Angry Birds, and the recently announced Police Academy: Next Generation. Peele will be featured in the much anticipated Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp Netflix series in addition to Keanu, the story of friends who hatch a plot to retrieve a stolen cat by posing as drug dealers for a street gang. Keanu will also star Michael Key. And the two are already working on return to Comedy Central in a fresh series that’s in treatment.
