“Kill Tony” is inadvertently involved in a murder investigation

A few days ago, it was reported that celebrity sex therapist Amie Harwick was murdered by her ex-boyfriend, suspected to be Gareth Pursehouse. At the time, it was largely reported that she was the ex-fiancée of comedian Drew Carey. Now, it seems the story takes another bizarre turn.
On January 20th 2020, Pursehouse attended an episode of the popular comedy podcast Kill Tony at The Comedy Store. He was called onstage to perform a few jokes, as is standard for the podcast to give up-and-comers a chance to see what they’ve got. During the show, he did a one minute set that was “roasting” the hosts, which included Tony Hinchcliffe and Brian Redban. The set itself did not go well for Pursehouse, who clearly bombed.
“I put the two together and I thought ‘Wait a second. This guy was on our show just a couple weeks ago,’” Redban recalled in a TV interview today. “And I remember feeling like ‘There’s something off with this guy.’ He had a very weird energy.”
Pursehouse is accused of breaking into Harwick’s house and either throwing or pushing her off the third floor balcony. She later died in the hospital. He is in custody.
Her ex-fiancée, Drew Carey, released a statement today stating, “Amie and I had a love that people are lucky to have once in a lifetime. She was a positive force in the world, a tireless and unapologetic champion for women, and passionate about her work as a therapist. I am overcome with grief. I would like to thank you in advance for giving myself and everyone who loved Amie privacy while we try to work through this tragic situation.”
There is clearly nothing funny about this situation, and even more eerie is the connection to not just one but two notable staples in the world of comedy.
