Kurt Metzger talks to young people about sex, we should listen

Kurt Metzger is more a household voice than he is name. He can thank the new breakout Comedy Central animated series Ugly Americans as Metzger supplies the voice to Randall, the zombie roommate of Mark, the series’ main protagonist. Once you hear the man’s voice, it’s distinction is pretty unmistakable.
Besides acting as Randall, recently Metzger just made the 2011 Comedy Central Hot list and as luck would have it, just released his first-ever stand-up comedy album, Talks To Young People About Sex. Take our advice, young people, you need to listen to Kurt, he will not steer you wrong.
Metzger kicks off the album talking about what he knows best, New Jersey and Guidos. As a Toms River native it’s a subject Kurt spent most of his life learning the ways of these Jersey Shore phenomenon. And with a few swift spins of the word, Metzger ties it all into the BP Gulf oil spill. And offers sagely advice about recycling guidos, and even divulges his grandmother’s recipe when you need to make more. It’s made all the better given his delivery and raspy timbre.
To me, the sign of a great comedian is the ability to make any topic, no matter how terrible in nature, wildly hilarious. Case in point, rape… Metzger tackles this topic head-on to great effect by the semantics of the charge.
Another sign of a great comedian is the ability to have killer material but deliver it as though you are having the conversation for the first time. He demonstrates this constantly throughout Talks To Young People… making humor out of everyday ridiculousness such as the cheesy Cash4Gold commercials, curing disease with Kionki foot pads, to which shaving techniques of celebrities he’d like to adopt most.
He also dives into concepts that seem obvious, like why are hot places on the planet like Mexico known for hot food over things like popsicles? It’s also where he delivers a potentially driving-the-car-off-the-road line related to the food and monkey knife fights.
Bottom line, Kurt Metzger Talks To Young People About Sex is a breakout album for the comedian. It highlights a tremendously talented comedian that if there’s any justice in the world, will become an even bigger in the years to come. Other comedians releasing comedy for the rest of 2011, take note, Kurt Metzger just set the bar high and you’re listening to one of the best comedy albums of the year.
