Last night, all the late night shows returned to air, after having been preempted the night before in favor of the election results. The exception to this being Stephen Colbert, who did a special on Showtime election night, and Trevor Noah, who did a special on Comedy Central.
And the hosts returning to air went down pretty much as you would expect it would. Tensions are high, and as votes are still trickling in from certain areas, it’s quite possible we won’t know a winner for at least another day or so. And as this fact has everyone else in the country anxious and on edge, as the late night hosts returned to their respective shows, those same feelings were echoed throughout.
Seth Meyers did his signature A Closer Look to comment on what’s going on, Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and James Corden had plenty to say in their monologues, Jimmy Fallon talked to Steve Kornacki about the incoming results, Conan O’Brien talked to Al Franken, Stephen Colbert spoke with John Oliver (which we’ve already covered), Jimmy Kimmel talked to Corey Booker, and Samantha Bee hosted her now annual post-election special on TBS. So yeah, there was lots going on last night.
Here are some highlights from across the board.
