Happy New Year, Laugh Button readers!
I’m sure at this point your resolutions are as stale and dry as the rotting Christmas tree that’s still in your living room. Aside from five extra pounds and a perpetual hangover headache, 2011 brought me the opportunity to produce my own comedy show.
There’s a lot of comedy shows out there: stand-up, sketch, improv and unintentional comedy shows: LA theatre. While brainstorming ideas for the show, I go back to one question: Who is the comedy audience in LA? Fellow comedians? Bachelorette parties? The 25 cousins from Temecula a new comic brings to a bringer show? Ladies in unfortunate striped shirts? Is there a sustainable audience for developing and up and coming comedians in LA? I’m opening this discussion up to you, dear readers.
Who the fuck is going to comedy shows? And if you’re going to comedy shows, what do you want to see more or less of? And if there aren’t enough of questions in this paragraph, here’s a few more:
1 – What’s gets you out of your house and to a show? The performers? The venue? Free booze?
2 – What would you love to see in a comedy show?
3 – What do you hate/love about stand-up? Improv? Sketch? Your childhood?
I would love your thoughts and feedback. And I’ll love it even more when I have a new show to announce!
Thanks for reading!
