So it turns out that Lewis Black and Marc Maron are distant cousins. Much like Larry David discovering he is cousins with Bernie Sanders, this is an interesting connection that – when you think about it – totally makes a lot of sense.
Tomorrow night’s episode of Finding Your Roots features two comedians, Lewis Black and Roy Wood Jr. Black, who posted a clip today from his sit-down with Henry Louis Gates, discovered that he had a “DNA cousin”, Gates told him, that is a fellow comic. Another former Finding Your Roots participant, Marc Maron.
“No,” Black explains as he saw the discovery for the first time. “That’s perfect.”
“You and Marc share DNA on seven different chromosomes,” Gates explains. “So that means you share at least one distant ancestor in your family trees. And probably, multiple ancestors on your family trees.”
It was a pleasure to have the illustrious @HenryLouisGates reveal so much I didn't know about my family. And the documents they found were amazing. It was magical. And that's a word I never use. Thanks so much #FindingYourRoots
