Listen up, it’s Josh Gondelman’s new album “Physical Whisper”

March 17, 2016      Brenda Hillegas      Albums, Features, Reviews

Josh GondelmanWriter and comedian Josh Gondelman’s will be releasing his second comedy album, Physical Whisper, this Friday, March 18, via Rooftop Comedy. It was recorded at the Davis Square Theater in Somerville, MA in last December (on the night of the Star Wars premiere), a little over four years after his debut Everything’s The Best (November, 2011).

Gondelman is very charming and this album proves that a comedian doesn’t need to be X-Rated or extremely offensive (but he is a little bit, and that’s great) to get a huge laugh out of the audience. He says a lot of things that we all want to say- how to deal with our ancient grandparents who may not know how to be politically correct, what just happened to you on the subway (because non-New Yorkers probably won’t understand), wedding hell. Gondelmen’s positive attitude and vivid storytelling makes him the type of comedian who you need to see live. Of course, buy this album…but also see if he’s coming to a town near you.

For fans of this Emmy-nominated writer and comedian, Physical Whisper was worth the wait. Gondelman works as a writer for Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (where he has earned a Peabody Award for his work). This spring, his standup will appear on Conan (TBS) and Night Train with Wyatt Cenac (SeeSo). Gondelman will celebrate the release of Physical Whisper with shows in L.A. on March 23 at the Virgil and NYC on March 24 at the Jewish Museum.

Well known comedy photographer Mindy Tucker shot the cover of Physical Whisper, which is available for pre-order now. Here’s a sneak peek at the new album with the track “Surprise!”:
