Not long ago we shed some light on NBC’s new Comedy Playground. The idea is regular people can submit writings that will be looked over by top notch execs and could possibly land a show. Well, apparently their creative team didn’t spend much time looking to see if their name was already being used by someone else and now they could be paying the price. A Los Angeles comedy school actually trademarked the name “Comedy Playground” back in 2002 and now is suing NBC. Not only is the comedy school seeking damages from NBC but also profits and a court order to keep NBC from using the name. Ouch.
Those with legal minds can read read the entire trademark infringement compliant.
