Last night, we learned that comedian and actor Mark Teich has passed away after a battle with cancer at the age of 48. Teich may be best known to comedy fans for his work with Stephen Lynch, who wound up breaking the news on his Twitter last night.
“My pal Mark Teich loved nothing more than being on stage, singing and dancing and making people laugh,” Lynch wrote. “I’m so glad I got to do that with him while he was here. I’m so glad you got to see it. He was full of light and love and I will miss him terribly.”

After Lynch’s hit Comedy Central Presents special and his debut 2000 album, A Little Bit Special, Teich would frequently tour with Lynch and perform with him onstage. He can be seen on Lynch’s 2004 DVD Live at the El Rey and his albums Superhero and The Craig Machine. Some of their best known collaborations include She Gotta Smile (a.k.a. Big Fat Friend), The Best Friend’s Song, Classic Rock Song, and of course D&D.
Aside from his work with Lynch, Teich was also an actor. Some of his TV and film appearances included Monk, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Leatherheads, Raising the Bar, New Girl, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, A.N.T. Farm, The Suite Life on Deck, I’m In The Band, Zeke and Luther, The Finchers, and The Wave. He also appeared as M.C. Hammer in a memorable early 2000’s Hallmark commercial.
