Moontower Just For Laughs Austin announces its initial 2023 lineup

Moontower 2023 initial lineup

Last year the Austin, TX-based comedy festival Moontower went through a bit of change, it partnered with Canada’s Just For Laughs festivals for the inaugural Moontower Just For Laughs Austin festival. A Voltron of comedy festivals combining the two of the largest comedy festivals in the US and Canada.

Just today the powers that be announced the lineup and dates for the 2023 installment of the festival and of course it promises to be one of the biggest comedy events of the year. The two-week comedy festival will host more than 100 comedians in over 10+ venues between April 12-23, 2023 in Austin. With a top notch collection of dates, it needs a top notch collection of performers.

They previously announced that the one and only Trevor Noah would be hosting a muti-day run from April 20-23 and offering some premium ticketing for festival badge holders.

In addition to Noah, the new list of comics dropped and it’s big. Just announced festival headliners this week include Chris Distefano, Vir Das, Seth Meyers, Maria Bamford, Brad Williams, Nimesh Patel, Robert Kelly, Felipe Esparza, Ben Schwarts & Friends, and Preacher Lawson.

In addition to the live stand-up comedy the festival will host live podcast recordings and specialty shows, leading the charge with Giggly Squad, You Know What Dude!,The Goddamn Comedy Jam, Stamptown, and Perfect Cult.

In addition to their major headliners the festival also announced some of the acts for the other clubs around town and its an embarrassment of riches for the comedy fan. Comics like Dana Gould, The Sklar Brothers, Shane Torres, Tom Rhodes, Punkie Johnson, Adam Ray, Maddy Smith, Mike Vecchione, Sarah Tollemach, Josh Adam Meyers, and Jerimiah Watkins are scheduled to perform.

The festival rolled out some new badge packages this year to give fans the chance to see even more comedy. They introduced a Club Badge which will give fans access to tons of the club shows as well as podcast tapings, screenings, panels, and other parties over the course of a 4-day comedy binge between April 19-22nd, additionally it will give the chance to purchase some of the major headliner shows. Fans can also upgrade to Club Plus or Club Premium which gives additional perks like earlier access to headliner pre-sales, better seats, and the ability to skip lines. Additionally if you plan on bringing a friend or two with you you can bundle purchases and save even more.

Badges are on sale now and if you secure your’s before December 5th you’ll get the benefits of early access options to major shows. More details can be grabbed at the festival’s website or by calling the Paramount Theatre box office at 512-474-1221.
