This is a good time to be Ms. Pat. The comedian just had her own sitcom premiere on BET+ earlier this summer, The Ms. Pat Show. And this morning, Netflix announced that they’re giving Ms. Par her first hour-long stand-up special.
The special will be shot at the Atlanta Comedy Theater on September 25th, directed by Robert Townsend. She previously did a half hour for the streamer as part of The Degenerates showcase in 2019. But don’t expect some of the stories from her previous special, her new show, or her memoir Rabbit to wind up in the special.
“There’s so many chapters to my life. You’ve got Patricia, you’ve got Rabbit, you’ve got Ms. Pat, you’ve got a wife, you’ve got a mother. So, there’s so many stories i can pull from,” she told Variety in the announcement. “On my [previous] special with Netflix I talked about my grandkids; on this special I talk about my crack baby. If I put it on TV, I won’t go back to it. It’s done. It’s time for me to get to work. If you heard it — if I tape it — it goes in the trash because it’s something you already paid for.”
