As I often do, I tuned into The Colbert Report last night. What I didn’t know at the time was that NAS was to be the guest on the show. I thought it was a pretty smart piece of marketing putting the rapper on the show. Stephen Colbert often references popular music and his pseudo right wing stance would go against things I’d imagine Nas being for.
Earlier that day, Nas and the organization colorofchange.org attempted to deliver a 620,127 signature petition to Fox News calling for their ceasing of treating biased coverage toward the black culture and Barack Obama (remember the terrorist fist jab anyone?). Fox declined to accept the petition.
Nas stopped by Colbert’s show to discuss the matters of one Bill O’Reiley (whom Colbert lovingly refers to as “Papa Bear”) and exchange general quips about the topic with Colbert. Nas later performed a new track off his album, “Sly Fox” which was written about the subject.
