If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like if Ron Burgundy took to space, well then you are going to be happy to read this news. Will Ferrell just got a sitcom pilot order from the folks at NBC for what’s being described as “Anchorman as an astronaut.”
The potential new series, titled Mission Control is set in 1962 and will be a “workplace ensemble in the tone of Anchorman that examines what happens when a strong woman butts heads with a macho astronaut in the race to land on the moon.” The show was originally a movie pitch but will now serve as a high concept show that’s going retro into the 60s.
Ferrell and his production/writing partner Adam McKay (who directed both Anchorman films) will serve as the Executive Producers. David Hornsby (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) will be the pilot’s showrunner.
