Last month, Audible premiered season two of Blake Griffin’s mental health podcast The Pursuit of Healthiness. Some of the guests on this season include Dax Shepard, Jessica Alba, Kate Murphy, Tony Gonzalez, Shadeen Francis, Malcolm Gladwell, Kevin Durant, and Neal Brennan.
In a new clip from Brennan’s episode, he talks about a recent experience he had with the popular drug ayahuasca, the experience of trying it for the first time, and how it caused Brennan – an athiest – to have new views on religion and spirituality.
“I did Ayahuasca for the first time one month ago, it was maybe the greatest feeling I’ve ever had,” Brennan explains on the podcast. “The ceremony was you just get a cup of ayahuasca, it was me and some friends. A shaman comes, and when they say shaman it’s just a white guy, there’s nothing special. I mean I’m not going to say his name, but it’s in the Zachary family. And it’s the name of guys I picture you going to the clubs with! So, he gives us all a cup and after about 45 minutes I felt incredibly euphoric and giddy and I couldn’t believe what the plant could do because it’s basically tea. I mean, it’s like you’re just food poisoning yourself with tea. Two of my friends threw up, but here’s the thing about ayahuasca, it’s really hard to explain because it’s so unbelievable.”
Neal Brennan’s episode debuts tomorrow, June 3rd, exclusively on Audible.
