Netflix loves Bill Burr. In addition releasing a new special through Netflix, Burr has now sold an animated series to Netflix. According to TV Line, the online streaming giant has purchases six-episode order for F is for Family, an animated half hour series set in the 1970’s.
The series follows he Murphy family in the 1970’s, “a time when you could smack your kid, smoke inside and bring a gun to the airport.” The series was written by Burr and Simpsons writer Michael Price. Burr will also lend his voice to he patriarch of the Murphy family, joined by Laura Dern and Justin Long.
“F is for Family is the show I’ve always wanted to do,” said Burr. “It captures all the characters of my childhood the way I remember it to be. Fortunately Mike Price and everyone at Wild West seem to know the same people I knew growing up. It’s going to be a lot of fun to tell these stories.”
Burr is having one hell of a year. In addition to this and his new special, the comedian also released a vinyl, was cast in a new pilot for FX, and was named “Stand-up Comedian the Year” at this year’s Just For Laughs festival. 2014 is the year of the Burr.
