Last year, HBO aired the wonderful 2 hour documentary Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind. The documentary took a look at his career and his life as a whole, through the ups, the downs, and his tragic death. The film featured interviews from many of his family and friends, but only touched upon the final years of his life.
Now there’s a trailer for a new documentary, Robin’s Wish, that explores those final days. The film shows how the brilliant brain of a man who was often noted for his quick improvisations and comebacks had slowly changed, due to the deadly neurodegenerative disorder known as Lewy Body Dementia. While he kept working up until the end, and you can still see much of his charm and energy even in his final projects, in retrospect you can also see that something was off.
This news is timely, with next week being the 6th anniversary of his tragic death. Since his death, he has been remembered as a master of comedy, film, television, and even theater. And something tells us his influence will live on.
Robin’s Wish, directed by Tylor Norwood, hits on demand on September 1st.
