As all of the states are beginning to open up, a lot of states have been very strongly encouraging wearing masks in public places. This is something that has been met with some disagreements, as would be expected. But to help “communicate the message that it’s important for an individuals health, for a family’s health, and it’s important for all our health [to wear masks in public],” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo enlisted the help of to of NY’s natives Rosie Perez and comedian Chris Rock.
After being brought out at the press conference, the two wore masks and gloves until they were properly social distanced from everyone. They then removed their masks and Rock stated to Cuomo…
“I watch you every single day, and you bring me calm. You bring me joy. Anita Baker sang that. You bring me joy every single day. Because I don’t know what’s going on. I thought I lived in the United States. I thought I lived in a country. And now I realize that we have 50 countries, essentially. Right now we’re in the country of New York.”
Rock also quipped that this was the first time he’s seen a microphone since he had to stop performing back in March, and mentioned how much he “missed it”.
He then went on to encourage people to get tested, “If you love your grandmother and you love your elderly mother, your elderly anybody, you should get tested.” He continued to state “Everybody that can get tested, should get tested as soon as possible.”
