Reading this made our day. It’s one of those things you come across that just makes you appreciate life, people, and the reason why we’re all here on this big, now sorta blue-ish, marble. And that’s to make what you will of it. And these two are doing exactly that. Let’s introduce you to Matt Harkins and Viviana Olen who recently moved into a two bedroom apartment together. Matt works at a Museum and Viviana is a really positive person so this feels like a pretty natural transition. They’re really great friends. The apartment has a really long hallway instead of a living room but it’s a great location and was also the first and only place they looked at. A couple weeks after moving in they watched that documentary about Tonya Harding on Netflix. They realized their hallway would be the perfect place to house a museum dedicated to the 1994 American incident and the response. They were honestly pretty shocked there wasn’t one already. Part of the museum team’s research has been the realization that everyone is either a Tonya or a Nancy, if you’re thinking about it, you’re a Tonya.
This of course is made more confusing by the fact that if you immediately thought you were a Nancy, you are most definitely a Tonya. The only real way to be a Nancy is to have very long lines in your body. If you thought you were an Oksana Baiul, well, aren’t you just perfect. They want to blow up pictures really big and hang them up in the hall. Their favorite pictures are ones that have Nancy and Tonya together. Tonya is always looking at Nancy out of the corner of her eye. Did you know Nancy wore the same dress she was attacked in during Olympics practice? Pretty hardcore. Their funding goal is $75 which will be used in the creation of exhibitions, including but not limited to the enlargement of historical documents.. If there is enough interest Matt and Viviana can begin acquiring artifacts, facilitate more public access, and curate grander exhibits. This includes people’s crafting projects, wax figures, historical reenactments and other Tonya and Nancy related creations which can be deemed part of the cultural response to this event and therefore added to the museum’s collection.
If they raise a ton of money Matt and Viviana will quit their jobs for a year and dedicate themselves to the museum including more research and the possibility of a touring exhibition where they’ll go to wherever Tonya lives and buy her a really nice dinner. They posted their “Risks and Challenges” to be on one thing. If they don’t make the hallway into the Tonya Harding Nancy Kerrigan 1994 Museum they feel like it will be wasted space. As of this article, they have 39 backers and raised $312 with 27 days to go. Not bad. Not bad. You can jump on board here and be a part of the magic. And if you donate $200, “The Tonya Harding Package”, you will receive a 30 minute pass to the Museum. Guided Tour for two. 2 12 oz diet cokes. Post tour afternoon tea service in the museums restaurant a.k.a. their kitchen & living room. And finally, Matt and Viviana will sit and have tea with you unless you prefer to sit alone then we’ll just look at you from across the room. Be a part of the magic here.
