Sloss is back. The man who is responsible for more breakups, broken off engagements, and divorces than any other comedian in a comedy special has returned to the U.S. with his new HBO special, X. Known for his biting, darker, no-holds material, you get a sense of exactly who he is at the start of his special. “Get comfortable,” he tells the audience. “If you’re not comfortable, don’t f*cking worry about it. I’m about to provide plenty of material that’s going to make most of you very f*cking uncomfortable.” With an opening like that, one can only imagine the wonderfully twisted tour de force that Sloss has in store for us, with his tenth hour (and third U.S. special).
Also this week in comedy, we get even more specials! The first up is from Arsenio Hall with his first Netflix special, Smart and Classy, which premieres Tuesday. This is followed by Celeste Barber: Challenge Accepted, which premieres on Netflix on Friday. Mixing into this comedy special greatness the return of Baroness von Sketch Show and the premiere of Dickinson on Apple TV+, this is bound to be a good week for comedy!
