Oh look, Marc Maron is in the new “Joker” movie

August 28, 2019      Matt      Marc Maron, Movies

Today the final trailer for Joaquin Phoenix’s take on the DC villain Joker has hit the web. While the plot of the film hasn’t been revealed too well, what we do know is its set in the 1970s and Phoenix is a struggling comedian looking for a big break in what’s described as both a “character study” and “broader cautionary tale.” What we also learned in the new trailer is that Gary Gulman is not the only real life comedian in the film. This trailer has let us know that Marc Maron is also in the flick.

We can’t help but make a lot of comparisons to between what we’ve seen so far in this film and the 1980 Martin Scorsese film The King Of Comedy in which Robert De Niro portrayed a deranged stand-up comic who dreamt of making it big. Could this movie exist as some sorta kindred sequel to that film? Possibly.
