Opie & Jimmy done? Tensions boil over between Jim Norton and Opie on SiriusXM radio show

Things got super awkward on air this morning on SiriusXM’s Opie with Jimmy Show. It all happened when host Greg “Opie” Hughes and co-host/comedian Jim Norton aired some grievances live on the radio. A little over a year ago, Opie’s previous co-host Anthony Cumia was fired from SiriusXM because of a Twitter tirade after being attacked in Times Square. After the firing, Hughes continued the show with Norton as lines were drawn between fans and show regulars. Things got even uglier as more reports leaked about the decaying behind-the-scenes relationship between Hughes and Cumia.
Cumia went on to form his own network hosting many of his friends from the SiriusXM show including Norton. This morning on The Opie with Jimmy Show show, tension between Hughes and Norton boiled over as guest comedian Esther Ku had a front row seat to the action.
Things started off when Hughes voiced frustration over behind-the-scenes actions between him and Cumia. An argument eventually started between Norton and Hughes, with Hughes claiming that Norton (seemingly trying to remain neutral) wasn’t siding with his co-host. It got to the point where Norton even declared that he would commit to the rest of his contract until October and then their show could be over. Hughes then stated that Norton shouldn’t wait if he wanted to go, prompting Norton to respond, “can I say goodbye in case you fire me?”
A lot of revelations including accusations, pot shots, fights to keep the show alive, personal issues, and other awkward discussion happened over the course of the hour and a half.
The conversation did end slightly lighthearted with less tension and a few jokes made at Esther Ku’s expense, particularly that she “Yoko’d” the show.
