Patrice O’Neal suffers from a stroke

October 26, 2011      Matt      News, Patrice O'Neal, Video

Ugh, hearing news like this is just the worst thing to hear. News broke this morning that Patrice O’Neal suffered a stroke last Wednesday. This morning on the SiriusXM show Opie & Anthony (which O’Neal is a regular) the news was delivered by many of his comedian friends, with Jim Norton, Robert Kelly, Rich Vos, Colin Quinn, and Keith Robinson making the announcement. The details are minimal and comedians don’t have more info to share but as Robert Kelly stated, “If you pray. Pray.”

Things got serious in the show’s turn as the comedians tried to figure out how to break the news. They asked that no one try to contact Patrice with cards or anything rather to direct well wishes for him and his wife to the email address loveforpatrice@gmail.com.

Here’s the audio from the O&A show (starts around 28 mins)

O’Neal just came off The Roast of Charlie Sheen where he closed the show with a killer deconstruction of the night. It also reminded us of some of the hilarious web-only clips Patrice made to announce the DVD release of Elephant In The Room. In dark times, it’s time to laugh indeed.
