Pete Davidson and Colin Jost one-upped “Guy Who Just Bought A Boat” by buying a ferry
January 24, 2022 Andrew Buss News, Saturday Night Live
Last week, news broke out that Pete Davidson and Colin Jost bought a decommissioned Staten Island ferry. No, really.
The pair partnered with The Stand owner/real estate agent Paul Italia and bought the ferry for $280,100. Their plans, according to Italia, is to turn it into a live entertainment space. The official name of the boat is the John F. Kennedy NYC Staten Island Ferry, and it was commissioned in 1965 before being decommissioned last year due to mechanical issues.
New York mayor Eric Adams tweeted “I love this idea. What a great way to give an NYC icon a second life. Let us know how we can help and we’ll be there for the maiden voyage.”
Fans of Saturday Night Live may have been drawing parallels between Davidson and Jost and Alex Moffat’s obnoxious Weekend Update character, Guy Who Just Bought a Boat. So naturally, the three had fun with the recent news this past Saturday on Update.
We look forward to seeing the progress of the boat and what they manage to do with it!
