UPDATE: Since the announcement a few hours ago, reports are coming in that Kyle Mooney, Kate McKinnon, and Aidy Bryant are all reportedly leaving along with Pete Davidson after this weekend’s season finale. There’s no official confirmation form SNL’s press team or socials but the story is going far and wide.
From May until September every single year, there’s going to be speculation about who will and won’t be returning to Saturday Night Live. We’ve all predicted cast changes the last few seasons that never happened. So we typically reserve anything being official until a few weeks before the show returns, due to never ending contract negotiations.
However, it seems that there’s rumors that Pete Davidson may be leaving the show. And if there was any cast member we’d be willing to place money on, it’d be him.
As far as work outside of the sketch show, Davidson seems to have the most going on. As of right now, he’s got a movie he wrapped last year with Kaley Cuoco, another project that he was filming earlier this year, and a forthcoming Peacock series, Bupkis. Not to mention, he’s been keeping a high profile given his relationship with Kim Kardashian/feud with Kanye West.
Again, nothing is official until NBC or Davidson releases a statement. But we would actually be a bit surprised if he does return in the fall.
