We previously reported on the great lengths Jon Stewart went through in order to get a bill passed through Congress that would benefit America’s veterans whose health was effected by burn pits. Today, President Biden signed the PACT Act into law and beforehand gave a few remarks, thanking everyone that helped get the bill passed, particularly calling out Stewart for his tenacity in getting things over the finish line when the bill stalled in the Senate last week.
President Biden said of Stewart, “What you’ve done Jon matters… and you know it does, you should know. It really, really matters. You refused to let anyone forget… you refused to let them forget… and we owe you big man, we owe you big.”
The people in the room seemed just as indebted to the comedian giving him a standing ovation after the President heaped his praise on Stewart.
