“Reno 911!” gets renewed for an eighth season at Quibi

September 3, 2020      Andrew Buss      News, Reno 911!, Television

Reno 911! fans can rejoice. It has been announced that everyone’s favorite Nevada cops will be coming back for another season.

Earlier this year, Reno 911!– which initially aired on Comedy Central from 2003 to 2009- came back to life on one of the newest streaming services, Quibi. The series reunited the entire original cast and crew, and was pretty well received. Enough so that the series was nominated for two Emmy Awards including Outstanding Short From Comedy or Drama Series and Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series for Kerri Kenney-Silver.

“We are thrilled about the pick-up, but we’re even more thrilled about getting to leave our living rooms for the first time in 5 months,” said series co-creators Thomas Lennon, Ben Garant, and Kerri Kenney-Silver in a statement.

It will be interesting to see how the show deals with being a comedy about police officers in 2020. We’ve already heard that Brooklyn Nine-Nine had to start from scratch after the death of George Floyd. So we’re definitely curious as to what the new season will look like.
