Revisit classic David Letterman moments with new official YouTube channel
February 1, 2022 Andrew Buss David Letterman, News, Television
Forty years ago today, David Letterman changed the landscape of late night television. On Late Night with David Letterman, he established the anti-talk show that was aimed at an all new generation. The retooling of the format that was perfected by Johnny Carson – while also paying homage and respects to it – has made the show and Letterman a thing of legend today.
And while the franchise has gone far beyond Letterman and is still thriving today, it’s important to reflect on what made that initial 11 year run so legendary. And while we can effectively talk about, the best thing to do is to take a closer look at some of the key moments that defined what was so great about Late Night with David Letterman, as well as the man himself.
In celebration of the show’s milestone, Letterman is opening up the closely-guarded vaults and sharing some of the greatest clips from the show’s history on a new YouTube channel. Some of these highlights include the iconic elevator races, Brother Theodore going off the rails, Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler’s infamous brawl, Barrack Obama’s 2004 interview, plenty of Top Ten lists, stand-up sets from Jerry Seinfeld, Norm MacDonald, Mitch Hedberg, Elayne Boosler, and Ellen DeGeneres, as well as so much more.
Additionally, Letterman is a guest on Late Night w/Seth Meyers tonight. Expect some fun surprises to be in store there as well!
