At the top of the summer, our pal Robert Kelly filmed a new stand-up special/concert film at the Village Underground in NYC. It was a big night for Kelly and his team at Apostle as they set out and did it on their own, selecting the venue they wanted, then produced, and financed it themselves.
The Bobcat Goldthwait-directed film was accepted into the Rhode Island Film Festival and now, we’ve learned that Comedy Central has acquired the North American broadcast rights to air Robert Kelly: Live At The Village Underground and will premiere it at the top of 2015 in January (Update: Jan 9th at 12midnight).
2015 is going to be a big one for Kelly, not only will we have the opportunity to see this new special but he’s also staring in the new Denis Leary TV project, SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL which is currently taping in NYC and is set to premiere on FX in the second quarter of 2015. You can also see him recurr as Louis C.K.’s brother on the hit TV show Louie.
Kelly is also the ringleader of the YKWD Podcast which you should download and listen to weekly from the Riotcast Network as it’s a weekly comedy roundtable of some of the best comedians working in NYC today.
