It’s been six years since Robert Kelly last released a comedy album. Yup it was 2008 when the comedian released his fantastic album, Just The Tip. It’s a must-listen if you haven’t spent the time. But a lot has happened to the comedian in those six years since. He’s become a family man and father, toured comedy clubs all over the world, started a successful podcast that showcases great comedic talent, founded one of the best podcast networks around, landed roles on TV, is Louis C.K.’s TV brother. In addition to all of this, he’s worked to become one of the funniest and most respected comedians working today.
He’s also long overdue for a new comedy album.
That last part will be taken care of on June 17th, as Kelly announced the details for his long-awaited follow-up comedy album today. Kelly revealed via his podcast that plans are finalized for the recording of his new special on June 17th at the Comedy Cellar at the Village Underground. Kelly also mentioned that his management company, Apostle is producing the special and the one and only Bobcat Goldthwait is directing. Though he didn’t mention it in his announcement today, Kelly had previously mentioned that he would be doing his special with New Wave Entertainment. There’s currently no street date for the special, but chances are it will be late 2014 or early 2015.
Kelly also stated that tickets will go on sale for the taping soon, and be available to the public shortly.
Update: Tickets are now on sale.
