Robert Schimmel’s brother is trying to fund a documentary about the late comedian

We lost comedian Robert Schimmel in 2010 from complications related to a car accident. Considering all the things he’s been through in life, it was one of the last ways many expected him to go. But there’s still a lot of Robert Schimmel we don’t know and that is the topic of a new documentary that the late comedian’s brother, Jeff and Kelly D. Hommon are attempting to get funded.

Jeff Schimmel released a kickstarter campaign for the documentary Leave ‘Em Laughing which will offer up a behind-the scenes look into Schimmel’s life growing up from the child of Hungarian Holocaust survivors to a free-spirited hippie. The doc also promises to deliver interviews from Schimmel’s comedian friends that will cover his life off the stage. If you’d like to donate to the cause, visit the project’s kickstarter page.
