Wrestlers powerbombing into the stand-up world

July 1, 2010      Ilya      Ari Shaffir, Video

LISTEN HERE BROTHER THIS SUNDAY AT SUMMERSLA…oh sorry, I accidentally went into a little bit of a wrasslin’ fervor what with all of these pro wrestlers involved in the equally hardcore world of stand up comedy. First off there is the clip of Rowdy Roddy Piper laying the smack down on comedian Ari Shaffir at the The Improv. Apparently in what looks to be a staged bit (unlike wrestling, right?), Hot Rod was defending the honor of adult film star Dana DeArmond after being insulted off camera by Shaffir. For any jabroni’s who have any doubt on how the former WWF Champion did, let me remind you he was in a little movie called They Live.

If that isn’t bizarre enough, TNA star Raven will be doing a set at Cozzy’s Comedy Club in Newport News Virginia. For those not familiar with Raven (real name Scott Levy) let’s keep in mind this is the man who invented the Clockwork Orange House of Fun match, the Raven’s Rules match, and the Hangman’s Horror match. I’m not sure what half of those are but they do not sound fun.

I do have to say that I am not surprised pro wrestlers are getting into stand up. After all they are used to performing in front of crowds, working in unglamorous venues, and getting booed. Plus if a heckler gets out of line, he can get slammed with one of these. IF YOU SMELLLLLLLLLL…
