It has been announced that Ryan Reynolds will produce and star in the monster comedy Everyday Parenting Tips, based off the Simon Rich May 2020 short story in The New Yorker.
According to the official announcement, the film will follow “ dealing with the everyday challenges of family and raising kids made difficult by an ongoing Great Monster Uprising.” It’s very vague as far as details go, but we imagine that there’s definitely room to play within this idea. The film will be directed by Lord Miller, who previously worked with Reynolds on the Paddington films.
Simon Rich, fresh off of Thursday’s HBO Max release of An American Pickle-which he adapted from a novel he wrote-, will also be writing the screenplay. Given the Q and A format of this story, it appears to be a bit of an unconventional choice for an adaptation. It starts out pretty tame before just getting downright weird. We aren’t sure how they plan to go about adapting something as non-linear as this, but we look forward to seeing the end result either way!
