Back in February of this year, Sam Morril decided to release his new comedy special I Got This on Comedy Central’s YouTube channel. About a month later, the lockdown happened and the special saw its numbers quickly rise as everyone found themselves sheltering in place. (It now has 4.5 million views).
Coming off of a special, that is generally when a comedian would take to the road and build up a new hour. However, with things being as they were in 2020, he had to think outside the box. Morril took to doing rooftop shows which, as he announced on his Twitter today, will be his new special titled Up On The Roof. In the trailer, we see him talking about how comedians (and also racists) are fighting for free speech, how racists are like tomatoes in a fruit salad, and the idea behind returning to stand-up in this way.
Up On The Roof will launch on his YouTube page later this week.
Update: 11.25.2020, it’s live.
