Sam Waterston added to the cast of new Netflix comedy “Grace and Frankie”

July 9, 2014      Danielle Bruno      News, Television

Sam WaterstonNetflix is harboring a new comedy, Grace and Frankie that stars Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda pitted against each other as their husbands reveal they’ve fallen in love with each other. The single camera comedy was written and created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J Morris. Martin Sheen is set to play Fonda’s husband and Netflix just announced that Sam Waterston will be joining the cast as Tomlin’s husband. For Waterston this role came at an opportune time while he was wrapping up his final episodes as Charlie Skinner on the HBO hit The Newsroom, which is about to begin its third and final season. Waterston’s role in Grace and Frankie reunites him with Fonda who co-starred with him in The Newsroom. Waterston is also famous for starring in NBC’s Law and Order airing from 1994 to 2010.

Who knows what type of hilarity will ensue when Sheen and Waterston’s undying love for each other blooms and the vengeful wives sit brooding in the background. Grace and Frankie is a show marking the changing of the years by depicting two husbands who have been having a secret affair since 1994, getting ready to be legally married. The show will begin with the two men attempting marriage. Along with Friends co-creator Kauffman and Morris (Home Improvement, According to Jim), Paula Weinstein, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross will all be on the executive board for this series. Grace and Frankie is set to premiere in 2015 and run for 13-episodes.
