Over the course of the last two season, Saturday Night Live has had to adhere to the same changes everyone else is going through with COVID. One of those means that the occasional chance that a host or musical guest will be exposed to COVID. Well, that just happened this week.
This week’s musical guest was supposed to be Roddy Rich. Rich, however, had to withdraw figs commitment after he and his team were exposed to the virus. In his place, the pop band Bleachers will instead be the first musical guest of 2022.
These sort of changes have happened twice before. The first time was the second show of the 2020-2021 season, when musical guest Morgan Wallen was spotted breaking protocol and partying before his appearance when he was supposed to be quarantining. The second time was back in December, when the show went on (kind of) with virtually no cast members, audience, or musical guests.
