Today, Apple TV+ announced that the comedy musical series Schmigadoon will be debuting all 6 of its episodes on July 16th. The series, which is a “parody of iconic Golden Age musicals,” stars Cecily Strong and Kegan-Michael Key “as a couple on a backpacking trip designed to reinvigorate their relationship who discover a magical town living in a 1940s musical. They then learn that they can’t leave until they find “true love.”
Rounding out the cast is Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, Dove Cameron, Ariana DeBose, Fred Armisen, Jaime Camil, Jane Krakowski and Ann Harada, with Martin Short appearing as a guest star.
The series, which was created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, who also serves as executive producer alongside Lorne Michaels and Andrew Singer from Broadway Video. Strong and Daurio also serve as producers on the series.
