Popular British series This Country is getting an American reboot.
Previously it was announced that Paul Feig (best known for bringing us Freaks and Geeks and Bridesmaids) would be directing the pilot episode for Fox. Yesterday, it was announced that Sean William Scott would be joining the pilot.
The series, which originally premiered on the BBC in 2017, is described as following “the daily lives of cousins Kelly and Shrub Mallet, who are trailed by a documentary crew as they go to a small town to study young adults and their current concerns in an idiosyncratic surrounding. The show follows the pair as they pursue their dreams, confront challenges and fight each other for frozen pizza.”
Scott has signed on to play Father Joe, who has recently moved from Minneapolis to the Ohio town of Flatch and serves as a father figure to Kelly and Shrub.
The pilot is set to be produced by Feig and Jenny Bricks, as well as original series creators Daisy May Cooper and Charlie Cooper.
