In 2019, The Righteous Gemstones – which follows a family of greedy and dysfunctional televangelists – premiered on HBO. Last year, the show’s star Danny McBride announced plans for a holiday special. And while that special hasn’t yet come to fruition, filming for season two is currently underway.
Joining the cast this season is Eric Andre, Jason Schwartzman, and Eric Roberts. According to Deadline, “Schwartzman will play Thaniel, a journalist working on a story about the ministries. Roberts portrays Junior, who grew up with Eli and suddenly re-enters his life. Andre is Lyle Lissons, a megachurch pastor from Texas who befriends Jesse and Amber.”
And of course, the show’s stars John Goodman, Edi Patterson. Adam Devine, Walton Goggins, Cassidy Freeman, Tony Cavalero, Tim Baltz and Greg Alan Williams are also returning for season two. And while there’s no word yet on when it will air, this is all good news nonetheless!
