Seth Meyers welcomes audiences back for the first time since COVID

Last night, Seth Meyers became the latest late night host to welcome an audience back. After 578 days and 241 shows in isolation and then in a nearly empty studio, Meyers finally got his audience back in the seats.
Meyers wasted no time with pleasantries or telling the audience how long it had been since he had performed comedy to actual people in the room, aside from reminding them that it is an office building where people are trying to work at the top of the show. The show charged on with A Closer Look and a lineup that included Hillary Clinton and Ron and Clint Howard.
Unlike other hosts, Meyers didn’t give much warning or build up to it. It low-key just sort of happened. And with that, Trevor Noah is the last late night host who is still performing sans live crowd.
