Last year, it was announced that a documentary on Louis C.K. was being developed for Showtime. Despite initial reports, however, it seems as if that project won’t be moving forward.
The documentary was slated to take a look at his work as a comedian, his downfall during #MeToo, his comeback, and the movement in general. Caroline Suh was attached to direct. However, yesterday it was announced that the project is dead at Showtime.
“I don’t think the social change that #MetToo has brought about is resolved at all,” former Paramount Global exec David Nevins said last summer when it was first announced. “There’s a bit of backlash against #MeToo, who has to go away and who’s allowed to come back.”
In the reports, there’s no word as to whether or not Louis was involved in the documentary, though we’d be very surprised if he was in any way. If he was, then it seems like the logical move would be to release this documentary on his website, just as he had with his specials.
