What could possibly be better than The Simpsons crossing over with the Griffin family in an episode of Family Guy? How about that, PLUS another cross over with the cast of Futurama? These plans were revealed at The Simpson’s Comic-Con panel this year by Al Jean. Matt Groening, who is the creator of both shows, will be participating in the creative process of the crossover as well. In the episode, the Futurama crew will be visiting The Simpsons.
While I thought the plot might have centered around Bender getting revenge on Homer and Bart for destroying him, Jean elaborated on the real plot in an interview for Entertainment Weekly. “Bender has to come back from the future to kill Bart because there’s something that Bart does now that makes the future really, really, really bad.” Jean went on to say that “Futurama is such an easy fit. It’s really funny, and their show lends itself to any variety of plot lines. By having them on, we have a little freedom… The biggest thrill for me is that we don’t have to adjust the animation style.”
The two shows have referenced each other countless times as well. The episode is scheduled to air in either May or the fall of 2014.
