Comedian and actor Steve Byrne is set to tape the fourth special of his career on February 6 of 2016. This will be his follow-up to 2014’s Champion which is currently available on Netflix. Byrne will be taping two shows, 7p and 10p, at Lincoln Hall in Chicago. Tickets are available now for the early show as well as the late show. “Worked my tail off on this one and it should be a fun one!” say Byrne.
Byrne studied theater at Kent State University but didn’t get into stand-up comedy until arriving in New York City. In 2006 Comedy Central aired Byrne’s first half hour special, Comedy Central Presents Steve Byrne. He then followed that up with a one-hour special titled Steve Byrne’s Happy Hour in 2008 and The Byrne Identity in 2010, both on Comedy Central. Other credits include the NBC series The Real Wedding Crashers, The Tonight Show, Chappelle’s Show, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, The History Channel’s History of the Joke, Mad TV, Super Bowl promos on CBS with Prince and again with Bill Cowher. His stand-up has been featured on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Last Call with Carson Daly, BET’s ComicView, as well as Comedy Central’s Premium Blend.
Byrne had a big breakthrough in television in the summer 2012 when he created and starred in his own show Sullivan & Son on TBS. After a very successful summer run with Season One, TBS gave the go ahead for a second season that aired in summer of 2013. The show proved to be a hit with an average of 2.4 million viewers per episode and was brought back for a third season with 13 episodes slated for summer of 2014. The show averaged 2 million viewers. Byrne hit the road several times with the other comedians and co-stars of the show Owen Benjamin, Ahmed Ahmed and Roy Wood Jr. in support of Sullivan & Son. As far as feature films, his credits include Couples Retreat and Four Christmases.
