Every Thursday, TLB participates in #TBT by scrounging around the internet for precious web gems of yore. Here’s one of our favorite videos that deserve some extra attention.
About a year ago, before Broad City debuted on Comedy Central, Ilana Glazer launched her own web-series, Chronic Gamer Girl. CGG brought together two national treasures: Ilana Glazer and Super Nintendo. We throw it back to CGG season 1, before the series became more… existential. Season 1 had a simple objective: play old-school video games and eat piles of junk food. One of my personal favorite episodes is episode 2, in which Glazer tries to play Zelda: Link to the Past. I say try because, unlike some other gems (like of the Super Mario variety), Zelda gets a little confusing. One of the things that makes CGG a must-watch is the jump-cut editing, wildly flowing between Ilana’s commentary on the game, and random out-of-context thoughts on subjects like chips or Ron Paul. Also, CGG had a second channel with bonus footage to accompany each episode. So enjoy. (And, yes, Zelda is overrated. I stand with Glazer!)
