Since around the time that he made the jump to TBS back in 2010, Conan O’Brien has become a champion of up-and-coming comedians. Whether he is featuring them on his show, bringing them on tour, or having them featured in one of his live Team Coco House showcases, he has a way of finding fresh new talent to feature. And now, he is taking it a step further.
Late last year, it was announced that Team Coco would produce comedy specials for HBO Max. And now we have a list of the specials that he’ll be producing. First up will be new specials from Beth Stelling and James Veitch, which were filmed before production shut down. Following that is yet-to-be produced specials from Chris Redd and Moses Storm. And finally, they will also produce a showcase hosted by O’Brien and featuring Ismo, Naomi Ekperigin, Solomon Georgio, and Tommy Johnagin.
For her special, Beth Stelling Girl Daddy, Stelling “riffs about family, society and the exes who have shaped her.“ And for Veitch, titled James Veitch, Straight to VHS, he “explores technology, retro-gaming, and finding love through troubleshooting theory.” Previously, O’Brien produced Daniel Sloss’s first two Netflix specials.
We’re super excited about this news and hope to see O’Brien continuing to champion new comics for years to come.
