NFTs. Short for Non-Fungible Token, it is the latest trend for people with a sh*t ton of money in their pockets. The (increasingly controversial) NFT a one of a kind digital creative asset – like artwork or music or a film or really anything – that, for a large sum of money, you’ll exclusively own. It’s part of the Ethereum blockchain, which is a cryptocurrency not unlike BitCoin. It’s the new “thing” that has taken the internet by storm. And that’s just breaking it down into its simplest form. There’s obviously a lot more to it than we can break down here.
Perhaps you heard about it via the recent rap that Pete Davidson and Chris Redd did on SNL. Or maybe you heard about Kevin Smith is opening up Jay and Silent Bob’s Crypto Studio, where he intends to auction off a horror film he made, Kilroy Was Here. And now, Tenacious D are getting into the world of NFT.
